Looking after a skin which is dry is as tough as caring for the skin which is oily. For the one with excess oil, it is the constant blotting with tissues issue, whereas, for the dry one, it is the continuous application of moisturizer.

There are various concerns associated with dry skin, such as itchy, flaky and sensitive skin. The low level of sebum (secretion of the skin’s oil glands) of dry skin makes it prone to sensitivity. Dry skin loses its ability to retain moisture and looks parched.

Such type of skin gives a “tight” and uncomfortable feeling after washing unless and until we put some type of moisturizer or cream. However, following a consistent skincare routine is the trick to achieve a moisturized and dewy skin.

In this article, I’m sharing with you step by step guide which you can follow to take care of dry skin.

Let’s begin!

Bath Time Rules :

Make sure that each day time taken for the shower is short. Avoid taking shower with too much hot water as it can dry the natural oils of the skin. This, in turn, dries your skin and cause problems.

It’s better to use soaps and face washes which are gentle on skin as they reduce the risk of moisture stripping. Roop Mantra Cucumber Face Wash is an herbal soap free formulation. The herbs and natural ingredients of it work in a gentle manner on the skin and keep it healthy.

After Shower Care :

After having a shower, don’t dry your skin by rubbing the towel, instead pat dry the extra water. This will help to keep your skin sift and supple, helping you reduce the risk of skin irritation.

As soon as you take a shower, make sure to moisturize! A moisturizer helps your skin to hold water.

Mild Exfoliating :

Exfoliating the dry skin is useful for removing the dead cells, preventing infection and allows proper absorption of moisturizing products. It is a good technique but you should follow it in a careful manner. First of all, there’s no need to exfoliate your skin too often. Doing it once or twice a week is more than enough. If your skin is dry, don’t use harsh exfoliants like loofah or pumice stone.

Moisturize :

It’s important to moisturize your face at least two times a day. Once after you shower in the morning and once at night before sleeping.

Using moisturizer right after cleansing helps to keep your skin moist and hydrated.

Gentle Cleansing of Skin :

While washing your face, don’t scrub in a harsh manner. To minimize dry skin, it’s better to opt for a gentle facial cleanser with moisturizing properties. Cleansers with natural ingredients and oils are the best option.

Eat Well and Drink Plenty of Water :

Our skin loves omega- 3 fatty acids, so it’s good to add foods like almonds, avocado, and salmon in your diet. Fruits and vegetables with high water content are helpful too.

Remember to drink plenty of water throughout the day. It will help to keep your skin healthy and hydrated from the inside out.

Protection from the Sun :

The harmful UV rays of the sun cause problems with the dry skin, by irritating it and causing damage. Too much exposure can put you at a risk of skin cancer. Hence, wear protective clothing when stepping out in the sun. For the skin part which is not covered by clothing, use sunscreen. You must use broad spectrum sunscreen UV A or UV B.

Home-Made Beauty Tips for Dry Skin :

  • Take some Aloe Vera pulp and add to it with one spoon each of homemade curd or whisked cream and honey. Mix all these ingredients well and put it on the face for 10-15 minutes. After this, wash off the paste with normal water.
  • Prepare a facial scrub by taking a tablespoon of papaya pulp. Then put it on the dry facial skin and leave it for some time. Later rinse it off with normal water.

As the saying goes, beautiful skin needs commitment, not a miracle! So, a regular skincare will help you get a soft, supple and smooth skin.
