Why-is-it-important-to-maintain-the-pH-Balance-of-your-Skin-Know-here-Roop-Mantra

Yoga classes, life coaches, meditation centers, and work from home Fridays– we try everything to achieve one of the most difficult goals: balance? But while we are busy looking for that middle ground in our lives, we don’t think about what it means to our skin.

Our skin functions and look best in the middle-ground spot too. Disturb its pH levels – by usage of wrong products or eating unhealthy food and your dermis will create problems for you. These include wrinkles, puffiness, acne or extreme sensitivity.

In case, you dozed off in that chemistry class when the professor was giving a lecture about pH levels. I’m here to help you, let’s revise that syllabus again.

What is the pH balance?

The word pH stands for “potential hydrogen”. Whenever the experts talk about pH, they’re referring about whether something is acidic, neutral or basic. Our body’s overall pH is about 7, so it is considered to be basic. However, the pH of our skin is lower than the level of about 5.5, which means it is a little acidic.

What-is-the-pH-balance

Our body and skin need a balance between alkaline and acidity for our acid mantle. It is a barrier that keeps moisture in and toxins out. Anything that lies above seven is considered alkaline. Thus, the skin that falls on this end of the scale is drier and wrinkly. The skin, which is too acidic, can appear red, irritated and itchy.

Observe it yourself

It’s not difficult to know your skin has a low pH balance. Some revealing signs are: if your pH balance is right, your skin will have a moist, plump and healthy look. If your skin is dry, it can be prone to acne. In case of oily skin with zits (spots) being a constant problem, pH imbalance can be the reason.

What causes the imbalance of pH?

There are many factors behind this problem. From environmental factors like UV rays of sun and pollution to hormonal and dietary changes, can trigger it. All these factors can break down the acid barrier. This makes your skin more basic. In such situations, every time you wash your skin, its acid-base balance gets disturbed.

Wondering how to balance the pH levels of skin? Here’s the solution. I’m sharing with you a list of few ingredients which can help you.

Let’s start

Apple cider vinegar :

The acetic acid of apple cider vinegar is effective in balancing the pH levels. It helps in lessening the appearance of breakouts, skin peeling, and scaling, excessive oil production. For usage, dilute one part of apple vinegar in eight parts water. Put the solution in a spray bottle and use it on the body and scalp. You can keep it for 20 minutes to 1 hour depending on the sensitivity of the skin. Take a nice shower afterward.
