People of any age can have the common and annoying problem of blackheads on their skin. But quite often this issue occurs to the teenagers or the ones in their adolescent years.

These annoying blackheads occur when your pores become clogged with extra sebum viz. the oil secreted by the sebaceous glands. The skin glands secrete this oil to keep it supple. Along with this, the dead skin cells also get accumulated in the facial pores and clog them up.

Because of this combination of excess sebum, dirt and dead cells a clog develops in the opening of hair follicles. This leads to the formation of tiny black or yellow bumps. They look dark not due to dirt but as a result of oxidization. It takes place when the blocked pores are exposed to the air.

Some common factors which lead to the appearance of blackheads on the face are: –

  • Changes in the hormones
  • Using chemical based cosmetic products in excess
  • Not taking proper care of skin
  • Stress

Many prescribed medicines are available for this problem, but it’s better to opt for natural methods. With some of your kitchen ingredients, you can treat blackheads.

Let’s discuss them in detail!

Regular Treatment with Water :

To prevent blackheads make a routine of rinsing your face in a gentle manner with water 1-2 times a day. This can flush away the things like extra sebum and dead skin which can make the pores look larger.

As a result, the pores become clean and clear. Splash your face with clean and fresh water and dry with a soft towel. Use a light moisturizer afterward.

Sweat it Out :

Though the sweat glands and hair follicle pores are different things, sweating can help to reduce blackheads. Sweat flows over in a natural way and removes anything that clogs the pores. You can do exercise or have a sauna bath to work up for a sweat. Make sure to wash your face both before and after a workout session. In case you do any activity with makeup or anything on your face, the sweat will carry it to the pores making them clogged. Thus, on one hand, sweat can clean pores but on other, it can clog them. Do it the right way!

Turmeric Paste :

Well known for healing minor burns, turmeric can be helpful in treating blackheads. All you need to do is, take some turmeric powder and add two tsp. mint juice to it.

Put it on the affected areas and allow it to dry for a few minutes. Then wash the areas with lukewarm water.

The Goodness of Green Tea :

You can reduce the blackheads with the help of green tea. Just take one teaspoon of dry green tea leaves and little water. Mix them up to make a paste. Scrub it over the affected area in a gentle manner for about 2-3 minutes. This paste helps to clean the skin and unclogs the pores.

Baking Soda and Water :

A little amount of baking soda is good for getting rid of blackheads but don’t overdo it. This can dry out your skin because of its saltiness. The reason behind the effectiveness of baking soda is its small and fine granules.

They can work as a natural and inexpensive way to exfoliate and remove anything clogging the pores. Make a thick paste by mixing water with enough baking soda and do a massage in circular motion. Then wash with plain water, pat dry and moisturize.

Cornmeal Face Pack :

It acts as an abrasive to clean out the dirt which blocks the pores in your skin. Take one tablespoon of cornmeal powder and some milk or water and mix them all. Take a face steam before putting this mixture on your face to open up the pores. After that apply this mixture and massage in a circular motion. Use more on the most affected areas. Then after a few minutes, wash your face with cold water. This can be helpful in closing the skin pores.

So, these are some natural ways which can help you get rid of problems of clogged pores and blackheads. However, excessive scrubbing your face can dry out the skin. Hence, don’t use these remedies more than 2-3 times a week.
